Best Area to Rent in Bangkok
'What is the best area to rent a condo in Bangkok?' This is a question we are often asked and it is not easily answered. The right location for you may be governed by money and a tight budget or perhaps convenience to amenities and nightlife are the most important to you, for some being close to the office will be the deciding factor.
A number of those who work or live in Bangkok will never venture further than Sukhumvit and the expat community there but if you are willing to look just a few stops further in any direction you may be surprised at what you find and there is a better chance for you to experience more of the real Thailand.
Living close to a BTS or MRT is a common sense decision to make, if you want a Condo in a busy area close to an MRT or BTS stop with shopping and all amenities close by, then you will of course pay a premium for that privilege.
If you are willing to look a little further afield then of course prices will be lower but you will spend more time travelling, pay more for your commute and probably be in an area with less facilities. It is all a matter of cost and convenience.
The choice is yours, as we have previously said many expats will always be drawn to Sukhumvit and rarely venture outside Sukhumvit in their time in Bangkok. However if you are willing to look just a few stops in any direction and experience more of the real Thailand you may be surprised at the difference in price and possibly enjoy your time in Bangkok much more. Amazing river views and a semi suburban life may be closer and more affordable than you think!
There is life beyond Sukhumvit, you just need to go find it!
